House/Senate Appropriations Bill Increase LIHEAP Funding for FY 2005
to $2 Billion
October 3, 2004
Attached is an
appropriations
table providing state-by-state numbers for LIHEAP for FY 2005
comparing House and Senate levels. The House bill provides $1.911
billion ($1,911,000,000) for the regular LIHEAP grant program plus $100
million in emergency funds. The Senate bill provides approximately
$1.901 billion ($1,901,090,000) in regular grant funds plus $99.4
million ($99,410,000) in emergency funds. In addition, of the $1.9
billion provided by the Senate, $500,000 would be set-aside for an
evaluation requested by the Administration. Note ? the House has not
provided funds to support the evaluation. For planning purposes, it is
likely that the Senate level will be the minimum allocation.
A final decision funding decision will not be made until the Congress
returns after the election. The current Continuing Resolution runs
through November 15. It provides for states to continue operating
programs at last year's spending level. |
