Senate Approved Budget Amendment Adding $3.318 Billion to LIHEAP for
FY 2007
March 16, 2006
Senator Reed's amendment to the Budget resolution to increase LIHEAP
spending by $3.318 billion for FY 2007 passed by 51 to 49. This would
increase total spending to $5.1 billion. All Democrats voted for it
along with the following Republican Senators: Specter, Collins, Snowe,
Chafee, DeWine, and Coleman joined Senator Reed in supporting additional
funding. This is new money and is fully offset. Don't spent it yet, the
House still has to agree and the appropriations committees have to
approve the funding. This is a major step in providing additional
funding for LIHEAP for FY 07. |
