House Appropriations Committee Cut Funding for LIHEAP by $1.15 Billion

The House Committee on Appropriations reported the Labor/HHS/Education appropriations bill providing $2.11 billion for LIHEAP for FY 2007, $1.93 billion for the formula grant ($50 million less than the regular FY 2006 Appropriation) and $181.17 million for the contingency fund (same as the regular FY 2006 Appropriation). Thus, the FY 2007 bill, as passed by the Subcommittee, provides $50 million less than the regular FY 2006 appropriation and $1.050 billion less than the final FY 2006 level (including the $1 billion supplemental).
